Roots

This is a fascinating treatment of the 1970s miniseries Roots, as well as the subsequent controversy of author Alex Haley's mixing of fact and fiction (following, as the article points out, in the footsteps of acclaimed authors like Truman Capote).  I had no idea about the public inspection and discrediting of Alex Haley, though I'm glad now to here his good name is being somewhat recovered by new visions and new scholarship.  I also like the article's shout-out given to Joseph Campbell.
