Good news on the DeVos approval?
This is an article that suggests that the nomination and eventual approval of Betsy DeVos as Secretary of Education has galvanized critical resistance to the long-prevailing paradigm of charter schools and runaway testing. Apparently there's a new Progressive Agenda for Education, which the author hopes may stand a chance of drastically changing the narrative from one of bipartisan support for a mercantilized model of education, to one of reclaiming education's place as a public good, a pillar of human rights and democracy. The Agenda is still a bit light on training for citizenship and critical thought, and heavy on preparing students for the job market, but it's a good start.
