Mexico taking over for US border patrol

This article confirms what I've long suspected: that the refugee crisis in Central America hasn't diminished much in magnitude.  No, instead it seems that there are almost as many refugees leaving Guatemala, Honduras, and El Salvador as during the major news coverage in 2014, but that they are increasingly being detained in Mexico (where they have even fewer legal guarantees of respect for their human rights than in the US), and thus kept out of the official counts of the US Customs and Border Patrol, the US news coverage, and generally the consciousness and the conscience of the US public.  The numbers proffered by the report are that 75,000 minors were detained by US and Mexican migration authorities in 2014, while 68,000 were detained in 2015, after the crisis had supposedly passed.
