Unhealthy school lunches

Here is an article about the difficulty of getting good-quality food into school lunches. I have heard similar things from a friend that is in charge of sustainability for a major Boston university. She would love to get the campus diners buying more from small, local producers, but there is some sort of kickback agreement between the catering companies (which have long-term contracts with the university), the universities, and big industrial food companies, so no one wants to source elsewhere.
