Science magazine on food security
To finish off my recent spate of links to magazines dedicating issues to food security and the like, here is an issue of Science magazine from last year with a special section on food security. Most of the articles in the special insert aren't that serious or in-depth. They're either gee-whiz, technology-pushing articles on things like precision agriculture (using satellites and sensors to deliver precise quantities of petroleum-derived synthetic ag inputs) or irrigation technologies, or they're decent but very general overviews of some of the major issues surrounding food and agriculture. Examples of the latter are an article on production systems combining livestock and crops, and a summary of the challenges we'll face in trying to feed our growing world population.
