Wild food in your backyard

This is an article about a Danish chef whose restaurant focuses on Scandinavian raw ingredients for its food. I would love to do a similar thing here in our area of Colombia. It could be a restaurant called Muisca, using only the ingredients present in our area pre-Columbus. Meat might be a problem, as there were no large domesticated animals in pre-Spanish America. But we could do with venison, muscovy duck, guinea pigs, turkey, and other wild game. Everything else is set though. Lots of vegetables, fruits, starches, grains, tubers.

Here is an article on a guy who's let his front yard go native. I've never understood why this is such a big deal for people. I get that people don't want an ugly, unkempt yard in their neighborhood, but what about a well-planned and -cared for native prairie? Or even just a regularly-mowed but not weeded yard? Anyway, I included this article here because dandelions and many other weeds like chickweed, henbit, lambsquarter, and pigweed, are great foods. They are high in lots of vitamins and minerals, with a strong flavor. Perfect for salads or braising.
